Lone Star Six

Play fast. Stay fresh. Protect the middle. Make the defense choose.

Don’t mess with our house.

How we play

These four rules solve most situations. Know them before learning the details.

01

Advantage first

If transition gives us numbers or separation, attack before changing.

02

Fresh legs

Change from secure offense, one player at a time, through the marked sideline zone.

03

Protect the house

In transition, defend the middle first. Match from the inside outward.

04

Communicate early

Hot. Two. Switch. Slide. Matched. Short calls remove hesitation.

Rules that change decisions

This is the local 2026 PLL Leagues Sixes rule set used by Texas 6s Stampede.

Game and possession

  • 32Two 16-minute running halves with a five-minute halftime.
  • 30Thirty-second shot clock. It resets after a change of possession or a qualifying shot contact.
  • 5After a goal, the goalie has five seconds to exit the crease or pass.
  • ↤Once established in the offensive half, causing the ball to cross back over midfield is a turnover.
  • 1Each team has one 30-second timeout. Coach may call it during possession or a dead ball.

Shots and defense

  • ×An untouched missed shot that leaves the field belongs to the defense. There is no shot backup.
  • GA defensive deflection, including a goalie touch, returns possession to the offense. The goal frame does not.
  • □Walling is illegal. Defenders must stay active and cannot crowd the goal simply to block shots.
  • 0No body checking and no long poles. All field players use 36-to-42-inch sticks.
  • 8There is no automatic clearing count. If an official calls stalling, the team has eight seconds to cross midfield.
